April 2, 2026
The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with Oakland Township, will conduct a public information meeting Thursday, April 2, to share information and receive feedback about the potential future paving of the gravel portions of:
- Silverbell Road from Abbey Drive (end of existing pavement) to Great Fosters Drive and
- Gallagher Road from Silverbell Road to Orion Road.
The meeting will be open-house format with no formal presentation RCOC staff will be present to answer questions throughout the meeting.
POTENTIAL PROJECT
To date, RCOC has completed a high-level scoping study of the potential paving project for the road segments listed above to assess potential impacts and to understand project costs. The scoping study identified possible alignment and grading changes within the corridor that would be needed to complete the project.
The project would include:
- One lane in each direction (12-foot lanes) on the newly paved road segments.
- Installation of curb and gutter along each side of the roadways with storm-water control.
- The project would require some right of way acquisition from adjacent property.
- Impacts to existing pathways and municipal utilities.
- The project would start between 2028 and 2030.
PROJECT COST & FUNDING
The project is estimated to cost more than $13 million, including project design and right of way acquisition. It would be paid for with a combination of federal funds and contributions from RCOC and Oakland Township.
