It is the responsibility of residents to individually contract for service at their address. Residents in subdivisions should check with their homeowners association regarding waste haulers, as they may have additional regulations or include service with the homeowner’s association fees.In Oakland Township, Waste Haulers must have a license to serve residents of the township, per Ordinance No. 55.

Recycling

Township residents are encouraged to utilize their waste hauler for curbside recycling, or as an alternative can drop off their recycling at the Eagle Valley Landfill (248) 391-0990 located on Silver Bell Road west of Lapeer Road, Mon – Fri 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (times subject to change). There is no charge to residents for this service, however you must present a township issued postcard for admittance. Postcards are available at the Township Hall. This is for Oakland Township residents ONLY. ID’s may be checked. This is only for residential recycling, not business. See materials accepted below.

NOTICE: Do not contaminate your recycling. Unsure of what this means? Please review our handouts before recycling contamination. You must also stop at the scale upon entering Eagle Valley.

Accepted Recycled Materials

Items currently accepted at Eagle Valley Recycling

  • PLASTIC: #1, 2, 4, 5 & 7 Empty, clean and rinsed.
  • PAPER: Newspaper, office paper, magazines, phone books, paper bags and junk mail.
  • GLASS: Jugs, bottles, jars. Empty, clean and rinsed.
  • METAL: Aluminum, metal cans, foil, trays, pots and pans. Empty, clean and rinsed.
  • CARDBOARD: Pieces 2′ x 2′ or smaller.
  • CARTONS: Soup, milk and juice cartons, juice boxes. 

Household Hazardous Waste

Since 2007, the Charter Township of Oakland has been participating in Oakland County’s NoHaz program.
Township participation allows residents to dispose of household hazardous waste at one or more of each year’s NoHaz events.
