Burn permits are available free of charge by clicking here. Replacement forms can be printed at any time throughout the year. It must be signed, dated, and on-site during burning. Printed copies are also available at Township Hall upon request. Burning of construction materials is not allowed.

Portions of the township are served by Comcast and AT&T Uverse. Please check with the service providers for availability. Comcast municipal cable broadcast Channel 17 continuous provides township information 24/7.

On the first Saturday in May, township residents are invited to participate in Clean Scene, an annual roadside clean up accomplished by volunteers, scout troops and 4H members. Garbage bags can be picked up at the township hall.

Dog licenses are available for purchase online or through the Treasurer’s Office. You must provide proof of current rabies vaccination. Remember to renew before June 1st to avoid penalty.

Dates for testing our tornado sirens/severe weather warning systems are listed on our calendar. It is usually the first Saturday, March through November, at 1:00pm.

Oakland Township participates in a household hazardous waste disposal program through Oakland County. Information regarding dates, locations, items accepted, costs and requirements can be found at www.nohaz.com.

The Paint Creek Trailways Commission (PCTC) owns and manages the Paint Creek Trail. It is an 8.9 mile linear park, located in northeast Oakland County. It was the first Non-Motorized Rail-to-Trail in the State of Michigan, as it was converted to a trail from the former Penn Central Railroad. Open to the public since 1983, the Paint Creek Trail receives over 100,000 visitors annually. The non-motorized Trail is 8 feet wide, and traverses through Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Township, Orion Township and the Village of Lake Orion.

Do not forget to file your property transfer affidavit and homestead exemption. You may do this with the township Treasurer’s Office. These documents will be in your real estate closing package or can be found on the Forms, Applications, and Permits page.

Township residents are encouraged to utilize their waste hauler for curbside recycling.

Periodically throughout the year, newsletters are delivered to every mailbox. These publications contain valuable township information as well as news of upcoming events. A copy of the latest newsletter can be found on the Newsletter page.

You may register to vote at the Township Office of the Clerk or at any Michigan Secretary of State Office.

Curbside trash pickup is the responsibility of the homeowner. A list of currently licensed waste haulers is on our waste and recycling page. If you live in a subdivision, always check with your homeowner’s association or management office to verify whether trash removal is included in your association fee. They may have a recommended hauler to facilitate safety, curb appeal and garbage truck traffic.

Oakland County provides sample bottles for water testing at their Pontiac and Southfield Offices. Bottles are no longer available at township hall. For more information, visit the Oakland County Health Department website.
