January 24, 2026
We regret to share that Oakland Township’s Winter Carnival will not take place as planned. We know this event is a favorite winter tradition for many families, and we sincerely apologize for the disappointment this cancellation may cause. This was a difficult decision, and one we did not make lightly.
Oakland Township’s Winter Carnival scheduled for Saturday, January 24 will be canceled due to inclement weather conditions. Forecasted temperatures are below the municipal parks and school districts safety guidelines, creating conditions that present a clear health and safety risk for children, families, volunteers, and staff. With limited access to heated shelter and warm-up space, we cannot ensure safe conditions for a multi-hour outdoor event. OTPR team appreciates your understanding as this decision has been made to protect our community. For future Recreation programming and events please visit: https://oaklandtownship.recdesk.com/Community/Program to make the most of all Oakland Township Parks & Recreation has to offer.
While the Winter Carnival is canceled, we are happy to share that the outdoor ice skating rink will open this weekend and remain open throughout the winter, weather permitting. Skate rentals are also available at the Paint Creek Cider Mill (PCCM) for those looking to enjoy some winter fun safely.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Oakland Township Parks & Recreation. We look forward to welcoming you to future programs and events under safer conditions.
